Swiss Chard

SWISS CHARD – A leafy green vegetable often used in Mediterranean cooking. The leafy blade can be green or reddish in color; the leaf stalks vary in color usually red, white, yellow and orange. Chard has highly nutritious leaves and is considered to be one of the healthiest vegetables available, which makes it one of the most popular additions to healthy diets. Swiss Chard is high in Vitamins A, K and C, and is also rich in minerals, dietary fiber and protein. Chard can be used raw in salads, the leaves and stalks can be typically cooked or sautĂ©ed.
